The North End and the Bench are full of homes built well before anyone was thinking about modern ventilation codes — steep pitches, complex rooflines, dormers, and a lot of houses that have been re-roofed two or three times without anyone ever tearing all the way down to the deck. When we finally do, we find things. Old cedar shake left in place under two layers of asphalt. Sheathing that's been damp around a chimney flashing for a decade.

Head east toward the foothills and it changes again. Newer construction, larger footprints, and noticeably more wind. Homes up against the foothills take a beating along ridges and edges that identical homes on the flat never see.

What we do in Boise

Full tear-off re-roofs, repairs, storm and hail inspections, and new construction roofing. On older homes we quote the tear-off honestly, including what we might find underneath, so you're not blindsided by a change order once the deck is open.

Why the tear-off matters here

Layering new shingles over old is faster and cheaper and we don't do it. On a house with decades of roofing history you're covering up the exact problems that will fail first, and you're adding weight to a deck that may already be compromised. We take it down to wood, look at what's there, and build back up properly.
